Need a book that isn’t in the OCPL system? You can request books from other libraries. Lending policies for books outside our system are dependent on the lending library, but usually the book requested needs to be at least 6 months old. You can pick up a form for an ILL (Inter Library Loan) at any of the OCPL branches, or submit an online form here. There is no charge for this service.
» Get a Library card
Due to reciprocal agreements with surrounding counties (with the exception of Jefferson County), neighboring residents of Oldham County may receive library cards free of charge. Jefferson County residents, or anyone outside of the system, are welcome to purchase a yearly family membership for $24.
Thanks for your interest in volunteering! The most opportunities for volunteers at the library are organized through the Friends of the Library and through the Teen Advisory Group (the library does not accept volunteers under the age of 16 outside of the Teen Advisory Group). The Library does accept court appointed volunteers, and tasks are determined by managers at specific branches. If you are looking to volunteer in this capacity, please see your local branch.

» Request meeting space
The Main Library in LaGrange has public meeting rooms for community groups, non-profit organizations, and businesses. Use of the meeting rooms must be requested via application online or at the library and is dependent on availability. Fees may apply based on use of the room. » Join the Friend's Group
The Friends of the Oldham County Public Library is a non-profit organization open to anyone who wishes to help support the goals and continuation of the Oldham County Public Library. Meetings are held monthly for members on the second Wednesday of each month at the Main Library in LaGrange. The Friends run the book sale room at the Main Library and accept volunteers and donations. For more information on the Friend's Group, visit their webpage or their Facebook page.
» When are the computer classes?
Computer classes are offered monthly on a rotating basis at the Main Library in LaGrange. Please see the programming page for specific dates and times. Among the classes offered are: Basic Computer Skills (three week class); Microsoft Word ; Microsoft Excel ; Microsoft Power Point; Digital Media/Overdrive; and Social Media. Classes are free, and open to everyone.

The Oldham County Public Library is a fully automated system providing for the informational, educational and entertainment needs of Oldham Countians. Besides fiction titles for juveniles and adults the library system has a Reference Collection, extensive non-fiction collection, newspapers, magazines, videos, books on compact disc, and audio cassettes. Special collections include: Genealogy, Kentucky, Daughters of the American Revolution, Large Print, Census, Civil War, and Young Adult.
Services and programs are provided at various branches. There is a Pre-School story hour at all branches as well as a summer reading program and summer activity program. Adult programs of interest to the community are held throughout the year. A-V equipment is available for lending. A coin-op photocopier and fax capabilities are provided for a fee. There are 66 computers with full internet access available for the public also providing programs for word processing and document delivery. Most services and items are provided to Oldham County patrons free of charge. Adults need an ID card to get a library card and anyone under the age of 18 needs a parent’s signature to get a library card. Library cards may be used at any Oldham County Public Library location.

Public computers are available at all OCPL branches. All computers are equipped with Microsoft Office. We utilize a time management system to allow all patrons fair access to the computers. When visiting the library, see the front desk for PIN to log on. Computer printing is available prepaid—$.20 per page for each black and white print, and $.50 per page for each color print.

» Schedule for Trustee's Meetings
The Oldham County Public Library Board of Trustees meets the second Thursday of every month. Meetings are held in the Board Room of the Main Library, 308 Yager Avenue in LaGrange. The meetings start at 6:30 pm. All meetings are open to the public.

» When are Story Times?
Story Time (September – May) is a class designed for children who are 3-5 years old. Children and parents or caregivers will listen to books and stories, sing songs or play games. There is also time to make a small craft to take home. Each week, Story Time has a different theme for all to enjoy. Story Time is offered at all branches of the Oldham County Public Library. » What's booking ahead?
You can place holds on items that are in the library catalog, but not yet published. These items show as being in processing. The Library will often add popular books to the catalog as they are announced by the publisher, and sometimes these books have yet to be published. Please understand that while you may place a hold on the item early, it may not be available for some time.
» How do I place a hold on a book?
Click on the Catalog link at the top of the page and find the items you are interested in placing a hold on. Once you choose a specific title, click the Place Hold Tab at the top of the screen. Enter your Patron/Alternate ID (your whole library card number) and your PIN (the last 4 digits of your library card number). Select the desired location for pickup and then submit request. You will be notified by email or phone when the items become available.
» What's my Library PIN?
Your PIN is the last four digits of your library card number.
» What's my ID Number?
Your library ID number is the number listed on the back of your Library card. Enter this number without any spaces into your account for online access to Library material.
» Printing at the Library
Computer printing is available prepaid—$.20 per page for each black and white print, and $.50 per page for each color print. Copiers are also available at all branches for black & white copies.
» Send a fax
You may send a fax from any Library in the OCPL system for $1 a page. You may receive faxes at the library for $0.50.
» Scan a document
Staff can scan documents for delivery to email accounts from any library location. This service is $.50 per file.

New Books: 14 days, On Demand Titles: 7 days, Most Books: 28 days, DVDs and Videos: 7 days, Circulating Magazines: 28 days, Educational Videos: 14 days, Adult Audio Books: 28 days, Children Audio Books: 28 days, Circulating reference: 3 days, 50 Books to Read: 7 days Renewals: Most books/magazines: 14 days, Movies: 3 days. No renewals on On Demand Books. No renewals on items if item is on hold for another patron. (You can renew online, over the phone or in person)

» My Spot Meetings
Each Tuesday during the school year OCPL offers programs for teens in grades 6- 12th. A variety of activities are offered, such as game nights, make & eat activities, make & take craft activities, and movie nights. The MY SPOT meetings are usually held at 6:30 pm (movie nights begin earlier) in the activity room at the Main Library in LaGrange. The Teen Advisory Group, a young adult group that contributes to the library by giving input on programming, material selection, and volunteer activities, meets one Saturday a month. Check the teen area or the online teen calendar for more specific details.
Books with in the OCPL system may be checked out and returned to any OCPL branch. Once an item has been placed on hold it will be transfered to the branch of your selection. Routing between the branches usually happens twice a week. Once you hold has arrived at your specified location, you will be notified.
» Replace a lost library card
Replacement library cards are available for $1.50 at any branch. Once your card has been replaced in the system, any old ID numbers you have will no longer work. Please destroy old library cards if found after purchasing a replacement.
» Check Out Limits
Patrons may check out up to 75 items on their library card at a time. There are checkout limits on videos (5) and DVDs (5), Audio Books—cassette or CD (5 each). Children may NOT check out videos or DVDs on their cards. You must be at least 18 years old to check them out.
